RIIZE - "Talk Saxy" MV Review

One month and 23 days (but who's counting?) after debuting on September 4 with "Get A Guitar" (Review), Riize has made their first comeback with the song "Talk Saxy"

"Talk Saxy" is a nice song; however, I did not enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Riize's previous songs. Still, it is a strong release, and perhaps someday in the future, it will grow on me a bit more to the point where I can fully say that I really like it. But we don't know what the future holds, so who knows what will happen? Lol.   

My favorite parts of the song are the "I won't let you out of my sight" part at the pre-chorus, the "talk to me to me talk talk to me to me" at 2:37, and the bass line, which is fantastic. I have to say that the song becomes a lot better during and after the bridge.

When the song was first announced and I read the title I imagined that it was going to be more like Alexandra Stan - "Mr. Saxobeat", Moldova's  Eurovision entry from 2010 - "Run Away" A.K.A epic sax guy, or even Nene Malo - "Bailan Rochas y Chetas" (Sorry), so I was a little disappointed that the titular sax wasn't as "strong" or "dancy" as those songs.

The music video reminds me a lot of boy group videos from the '90s and '00s, especially the parts with Shotaro and Sohee, who look straight out of those videos, like in the scene with the amplifiers, the fisheye lens effect was used a lot during that time. I like the editing at 0:48, the way it jumps to the next scene is on point. For some reason, the 2:16 part reminds me super specifically of the Backstreet Boys. 

Style-wise, I really like the silver sport-like jerseys (?) pictured above with the Riize banner hanging from the pants. In this MV the style is more uniform when compared to "Get A Guitar" and I'm so weak for group outfits, I love them with all my soul. 

My favorite individual outfit from this music video is Wonbin's white turtle neck with the black vest and black pants; I think that the beret he is wearing with that outfit looks wonderful on him. I also like Seunghan's black and yellow outfit during the first chorus.

If I had to point out something that I hate about the outfits/looks of this music video, it would be Anton's haircut. While many people hate mullets, I usually don't mind them much, but in this specific case, I do, because the hair looks very flat, and the burgundy (? color doesn't do the haircut any favors.
