Moving (
무빙)
is a 20-episode Disney+ original action-fantasy superhero series based on a webtoon of the same name by Kang Full starring Lee Jung-Ha, Go Youn-Jung, Kim Doo-Hoon, Ryu Seung-Ryong, Han Hyo-Joo, Cha Tae-Hyun and Zo In-Sung.

Summary

Kim Bong-Seok (Lee Jung-Ha), Jang Hui-Soo (Go Youn-Jung), and Lee Gang-Hoon (Kim Doo-Hoon) are classmates in class 3-3 of Jeongwon High School, but each of them hides a secret. The cheerful Bong-Seok has enhanced senses and also the power of flying, the sporty Hui-Soo has regenerative powers and the serious Gang-Hoon has superhuman speed and strength; they inherited these abilities from their parents.
Lee Mi-Hyun (Han Hyo-Joo) is the mother of Bong-Seok and the owner of a Dongaseu (or Tonkatsu) restaurant and, like her son, she has enhanced senses. Bong-Seok inherited his flying powers from his dad Kim Doo-Sik (Zo In-Sung), who appears to be missing. Hui-Soo father Jang Ju-Won (Ryu Seung-Ryong) is a former gangster and owner of a fried chicken restaurant and has the same self-healing powers as his daughter. The three of them are former employees of the National Intelligence Service with Doo-Sik and Ju-Won being ex-black ops agents and Mi-Hyun is an ex-agent who after a failed first mission became an intelligence analyst. Gang-Hoon dad, Lee Jae-Man (Kim Sung-Kyun), has a mental illness, he also has superpowered strength and speed and owns a mini-market with his wife.
Jeon Gye-Do (Cha Tae-Hyun), who has the power of electricity, is a former children's theater actor known as "Bungaeman" (Lightning Man), he is now a bus driver.
The other former superpowered agents are being hunted and murdered by a man named Frank (Ryoo Seung-Bum) who possesses the same abilities as Jung-Won and Hui-Soo.

Thoughts

Although there are still two months left until 2023 ends, in my opinion, the answer to the question on the title would be a resounding YES! -With The Good Bad Mother (Review) tailing behind at second place- For starters, I hate superhero stuff -except for Batman; I love him- so imagine how big of a grip Moving had on me to consider it the best Kdrama of 2023.
The concept of episodes focused on different charaters made the story feel fresh, which helped Moving mantain a good pace without feeling too tiring or dragging. However, I did notice that towards the end, the episodes became considerably shorter, which it left me waiting for more -I hope there is a second season in the future-.

The cinematography was great, and so was the CGI, except for the scene where Mi-Hyun is driving her car and sees cherry blossom trees; which looks quite awful. The action choreography was fantastic.
This drama has many "gore" moments, and even though I can't stand blood, I still managed to watch until the end.

Moving is a character-driven series with strong writing and an incredible cast where each actor shined in their roles. To be sincere, I was a bigger fan of the plot lines and characterizations of the older cast, but that doesn't mean that the plot lines of the younger characters were bad; I just found the older characters more compelling.
I like how the villains (except for the government heads) were depicted as "normal" humans with actual feelings (no mindless monsters or anything alike) who were just following orders, like their hero counterparts.

The romance in this series was really good, especially Mi-Hyun and Doo-Sik's plot which has so many sweet moments (like their first kiss as in the GIF above), their entire courtship made me swoon.

I recommend this series if you like, strongly written characters, swoony moments and realistic fantasy (?
