Ranking *all* of Girls' Generation (SNSD) solo debut songs.

Members of Kpop girl group Girls' Generation posing in a teaser for their fifth Korean album Lion Heart. The members from left to right: Seohyun, Sooyoung, Yoona, Tiffany, Sunny, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, and Yuri are sitting on what appears to be a desert during the night

Previously, I ranked my top 5 SNSD Kdramas and now I'm ranking my favorite solo "official" debuts of all the Soshi members.
The reason there are 7 ranks instead of 9 or 8 is because, as of 2023, Sunny has not debuted solo yet, and Jessica's solo debut was after leaving SNSD, so I decided against putting her in the ranking.
-By the way, I Know that Hyoyeon, Yuri and Yoona technically made their solo debuts at SM Station. In my heart, SM Station songs don't really count as solo debuts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯-

7 - Yoona ‒ "To You"

Release: May 13, 2018.
Length: 4:35.
Lyrics: Yoona.
Music: Lee Sang-Soon.
Arrangement: Lee Sang-Soon and Cho Yoon-Seung.

Yoona's singing has improved a lot since her debut days, but this song doesn't truly showcase how good her vocals are now.
When I listen to this song while watching the music video, it reminds me so much of Studio Ghibli. However, when I listen to the song by itself, it's quite boring.
This song is great to listen to when you want to fall asleep or when you are traveling and watching some beautiful landscapes.

6 - Sooyoung ‒ "Winter Breath"

Release: December 20, 2018.
Length: 3:51.
Lyrics: Sooyoung.
Music: Day&Night, Sooyoung, and Command Freaks.
Arrangement: Kim Yong-Sin.

Just like Yoona, Sooyoung's voice has improved a lot since her debut days, and this song proves it.
This song sounds like it would fit great in a winter drama OST.
The MV feels homely ﹘ as if I was watching Sooyoung's home tapes. The VCR filter (I think it's a filter...) helps give the music video winter vibes.
I think this song is great to listen to when you are feeling a little bit blue in winter.

5 - Taeyeon ‒ "I" Feat. Verbal Jint

Release: October 7, 2015.
Length: 3:26.
Lyrics: Taeyeon, Mafly, and Verbal Jint.
Music: Myah Marie, Bennett Armstrong, Justin T. Armstrong, Cosmopolitan Douglas,
David Quiñones, Jon Asher and Ryan S. Jhun.
Arrangement: Myah Marie, Bennett Armstrong, Justin T. Armstrong, Cosmopolitan Douglas,
David Quiñones, Jon Asher and Ryan S. Jhun.

I feel like an heretic for what I'm about to write, but to be honest, I don't really like "I." I find the chorus to be a little bit jarring, but the rest of the song makes up for it.
The MV is gorgeous and Taeyeon looks great, especially in the scenes where she is a waitress.

4 - Seohyun ‒ "Don't Say No"

Release: January 17, 2017.
Length: 3:13.
Lyrics: Kenzie.
Music: Kenzie, Matthew Tishler, and Felicia Barton.
Arrangement: Matthew Tishler.

"Don't Say No" is a pretty catchy song that reminds me of Ariana Grande type of music. I really like the part at 2:09.
This MV has my favorite color palette and style. I love Seohyun's looks, especially the one at 1:16 with the hairstyle that looks like "victory rolls" and the bejeweled shirt and skirt and the one at 2:46 with the giant black hat and matching dress.

3 - Hyoyeon ‒ "Wannabe" Feat. San E

Release: June 1, 2017.
Length: 3:02.
Lyrics: San E, Kang Eun-Jeong, JQ, DADA (makeumine works),
Kim Jin-Ju, and Kim Hye-Jeong (makeumine works).
Music: Afshin Salmani, Josh Cumbee, and Sidnie Tipton.
Arrangement: AFSHeeN and Josh Cumbee.

When SM announced in 2016 that Hyoyeon would debut solo with the SM Station song "Mystery," I didn't imagine how much I would end up liking Hyoyeon's solo career -I loved "Mystery" at the very first listen-.
Though "Wannabe" is not my favorite song from Hyoyeon (it's "Punk Right Now"), I love the chorus and San E's part.

2 - Yuri ‒ "Into You"

Release: October 4, 2018.
Length: 3:06.
Lyrics: January 8th (JamFactory).
Music: Jihad Rahmouni and Léon Paul Palmen.
Arrangement: Jihad Rahmouni and Léon Paul Palmen.

This song reminds me of the summer hits from late 2000/early 2010 and is very catchy; I love it.
I can imagine this song playing in the background of a TV travel show in my country.
The MV is really pretty and Yuri looks gorgeous throughout the video. My favorite outfit is the one at 2:54.

1 - Tiffany ‒ "I Just Wanna Dance"

Release: May 11, 2016.
Length: 3:30.
Lyrics: Hwang Hyun (MonoTree).
Music: Michael Jimenez, Sara Forsberg, MZMC, and Timothy "Bos" Bullock.
Arrangement: Timothy "Bos" Bullock.

This song has it all — a catchy hook, a great pace, Mariah Carey-like whistle notes, and a hard choreography.
If someone had told me a month before May 2016 that the Tiffany was going to debut solo with such a complex choreography, I simply wouldn't have believed it. The live performances of this song were also really good (as seen here), although they (obviously) removed the hard parts of the choreography.
The MV looks super good, and my favorite shot is the one at 0:52. I like Tiffany's twintail hair-style (her outfit too), especially during the scene at 2:31.

Gif of girls generation greeting
