LISA - "New Woman" feat. Rosalía MV Review
Lisa is a member of the Kpop girl group Blackpink. She debuted solo on September 10, 2021. After the end of her individual contract with YG on December 29, 2023, Lisa formed her own company, Lloud, on February 8, 2024 (her group activities with Blackpink are still managed by YG).
"New Woman" is Lisa's newest solo single featuring Spanish artist Rosalía.
"New Woman"
Okay, I have to say that I'm not a fan of Lisa or Blackpink (even if I'm not a fan, I will always insist that Blackpink's best song is "Whistle"), as a matter of fact, I haven't liked any of Lisa's solo songs until today.
I've been a big fan of -La- Rosalía since the release of El Mal Querer in 2018, so when I read that she was doing a feature on Lisa's song, I was quite excited, even if I'm not a fan of Lisa's songs.
I'm happy to report that this song exceeded my expectations. Although I have to admit that at first, I was kind of ambivalent towards this song as it sounded like a mashup of several very different songs, especially Rosalía's solo verse at 1:33. However, the second time I listened to it, it grew a bit more on me.
The bass that plays throughout the track sounds superb. I enjoyed the pre-chorus and the part of Rosalia's verse where she sings "la noche estrellá'~." My favorite part was the chorus sung by -La- Rosalía towards the end, probably because it was in Spanish.
The MV is fantastic; the scene with the transition where Lisa changes into -La- Rosalía is super well done. I seriously love this music video ﹘ I found it very artistic.
I want to give credit to the team that Lisa hired for her solo projects, as they are doing an excellent job with her music videos.
In my opinion, YG has always done a subpar job with Blackpink music videos, so Lisa's solo MV's stand out a lot.
Style-wise, all the outfits in this MV look good. I love the first look that Lisa has in this MV; the blonde wig and the cut crease makeup she is wearing look great on her ﹘ I think she looks great without bangs. My other favorite outfit in this MV is the sparkly two-piece that she is wearing in the scenes when she is in the mirror room(?
