TWS - "If I'm S, Can You Be My N?" MV Review
TWS (투어스) is a boy group from Pledis that debuted on January 22, 2024 and consists of 6 members: Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, and Kyungmin. The name TWS (apparently) is an abbreviation of "Twenty Four Seven With Us," -???- which is the group tagline.
"If I'm S, Can You Be My N?" is the lead single of their second mini-album, Summer Beat!, which was released on June 24, 2024. -I'm really late with this review, no?-
"If I'm S, Can You Be My N?"
I'm writing this review three weeks after the song's release because, honestly, I didn't like their debut song, "Plot Twist," and when I tried to give "If I'm S, Can You Be My N?" a chance I didn't like the verses and ended up feeling confused by the title of the song -I thought it was about MBTI, lol-. So, I decided not to write anything about it. But recently, I heard them singing an encore at a music show and after hearing the chorus many times, I ended up enjoying this song quite a lot.
Don't judge me, but I really think that the title of this song should have been something like "If I'm S, Can You Be My N? (Polar Opposites)" or something else (I'm a fan of lengthy titles, so I don't mind how long it is), as the title on its own feels a bit confusing -that might be a me problem though!-.
The instrumental of this song is quite charming, and I'm sure it fits great with the summer weather they are having in the northern hemisphere -I prefer winter weather, heh-. Although the verses haven't grown on me yet, I enjoy the pre-chorus and I LOVE the chorus. It has a nostalgic vibe that reminds me of some old-school songs -its not a specific song, just the feeling matches-. Overall, it's a good song.
The MV is cute; I like how it is about a group of friends helping each other (?. The color palette gives the music video a summery feel, especially with those warm blue tones. The scenes where the members are not dancing would be great at a coming-of-age sports film (except for the one where they are flying at 2:51, but maybe they could be a dream sequence of one of the leads of the film). I would totally watch it – in my imagination, it would be like those films that are heart-warming and feel refreshing.
Style-wise, the outfits are good and follow the summer color palette that I (sort of) mentioned above to a T. I can't pinpoint a favorite outfit, but I liked them.
