Red Velvet is an SM girl group that debuted on August 1, 2014 and originally consisted of 4 members Irene, Seulgi, Wendy and Joy, with the 5th member, Yeri, joining the group later in March 2015. Red Velvet is divided by concept: the red side are upbeat pop songs and the Velvet side are more moody R&B songs.
"Chill Kill" is the title track and lead single from their 3rd album also titled Chill Kill.

"Chill Kill" Review

"Chill Kill" took me by surprise because after watching the teasers and the trailer I thought the song was going to be a lot more moody than what we got. The press release says that "Chill Kill" is a "bright tragedy" and there are no better words to describe this song because as Joy wrote (on Bubble) the concept is neither Red nor Velvet is Red Velvet. My favorite part of the song is after the first chorus at 1:44 where Seulgi sings and it makes a great contrast with the happy chorus.
SM has been on a roll lately because every concept that they've released recently has been right up my alley, from the teasers to the trailer and MV, this Red Velvet album is an aesthetical masterpiece.
The MV is very movie-like and presents the girls as 5 sisters who have a tragedy happen in their lives (did Wendy just do that?) They decide to hide the body and clean the evidence and everything seems to start to fall apart when the girls start to fight over it, but don't worry because they eventually start to get along better thanks to the power of dancing(?. The girls reunite again on November 13 (I think is the anniversary of the event) and they go on a bus to their old house and burn it down. They run away and have fun, but are chased by the police and eventually caught, so the girls decide to show the police the dance moves they were learning earlier. Moral of the story: if you ever get arrested, show the police how well you can dance. I didn't understand the plot very well so I decided to describe it as best I could and maybe writing about it could help me understand it better.
Style-wise, the best look in this MV is when the girls wear those costumes towards the end (when they burn the house), it feels like a shot from an indie movie.
